Professor Miller began his martial arts journey at the age of seven. After earning a black belt in Hapkido, Adam started training in Jet Kune Do in 1992-93 where he was first introduced to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. In 1993, Royce Gracie dominated every opponent in the UFC and changed martial arts forever. Adam took off his black belt and put on a white belt to pursue Jiu-Jitsu, receiving formative instruction through seminars from Rickson and Renzo Gracie.

The Hapkido school that Adam trained at allowed him to facilitate a “ground fighting” class two time a week. It was in these classes that Adam first met Jeff Curran, who was still in high school at the time. Jeff would go on to become an MMA pioneer and catalyst for Jiu-Jitsu in the area, becoming one of the first blue belts in Chicago under Carlson Gracie Jr. and soon after a protege of Pedro Sauer, a direct student under Grandmaster Helio Gracie and his son Rickson. Jeff opened up his first Jiu-Jitsu academy in 1995 and Adam has been a student of Pedro Sauer and Jeff Curran since it’s inception. Adam earned all his belts on the mats of Team Curran from Pedro Sauer and is currently a 3rd degree black belt. In addition to holding the rank of “professor” in Jiu-Jitsu, Adam holds other black belts including a shoe an in Judo under Grand Master Ok Hyung Kim. He now lives in Louisville, KY and is on staff at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Kentucky.
